So that was really fast! I didn't know having labor pains could be that ..ooohh GOOD! (with evil eyes).
DECEMBER 9, 2010: I was scheduled to have my weekly check-up. I missed 1 week check-up actually because, well I can't remember the reason. Oh! i had bleeding on the 4th of December by the way and didn't go to my OB's office since I was having irregular contractions. I was systematically and tirelessly timing my contractions every now and then, so when I get irregular ones, I don't get nervous right away. But I'm prepared physically and emotionally though. So at around 10 in the morning of December 9 EJ, Kuya Seo and Kuya Rye dropped me at Dra. Daphne's Clinic and then they were off to EJ's Clinic. That was our routine when I started to have my weekly check-up. We'll bring the kids with us to join me or their Dad at the clinics (whichever they prefer) drop me at AMC hospital then pick me up when I'm done. So that day, Seo and Rye went to their Dad. I went inside the clinic to ask if Dra. Daphne's inside already, the secretary said yes and informed me that I'll be her 3rd patient. So I went to look for a nice place to sit down and I saw one vacant seat na natatamaan ng bentilador. So I sat there. I was sitting and waiting for me to be called for about 15 minutes. Nothing peculiar though. I just felt a little strange and I felt I was perspiring a little bit although I was ventilated well by the fan. I just seem to be uneasy sitting there so I tried different sitting positions. I turned to my left and then right, sumandal, hindi sumandal. It felt different. I just told myself, no..hindi pa to matagal pa Christmas Day. So when it was my time to be called I greeted Dra with all smile!
I was already having my IE every week then, the last time she IE'd me my cervix was still closed. So she advised me to walk around.
I wasn't nervous or anything about being IE'd this time around. She was wearing her gloves when I told her "Give me good NEWS!" ( I was praying for 1-2 cm so I can give birth before Christmas) And then she said "Hmm Ok this is good news" as she was inserting her finger. So I expected wow, maybe I am 1 cm dilated. And then she said "Wait pasok ko lang another finger".. Her face brightened up! Wow 2-3 cm! As she continues to evaluate, she was saying: " In 2 days or a week pwede ka na nyan siguro" Then she pulled her fingers out and saw lots of blood. "Venice dumerecho ka na ng Sacred, nag le-labor ka na" I was like stunned and said: "OhhhKayyy...."Kung spot lang ito papayagan pa kitang umuwe kaso tignan mo ang dami nya na" and pointed to her floor dahil tumulo na sa sahig dugo ko.=p
So I said: "hindi pwedeng umuwe muna? may bisita ako. My Dad's sister Tita Nora came to visit him from Vigan pa. She strictly said: "No. Hindi pwede." And she really pointed out that I really should be heading straight to the hospital once I stepped out of her clinic.
I called EJ right off. And he was not answering. Maybe he was doing his patient. As I remember clearly he mentioned about an 11 am appointment with his patient. So I didn't not bother calling him. So I tried calling the clinic's land phone. Atcheng Yeng answered the phone but she could not hear me. And so I called Atcheng Yeng's cellphone and she was not answering either. I was a little uneasy since I was hiding my blood stain while walking. No I was not having contractions yet but the situation was giving me this feeling of agitation. I was really troubled and can't decide what to do first. I can't reach my husband and the only solution was to contact the clinic so the secretary will tell EJ to pick me up at the hospital.
And sad to say, the most appropriate solution did not help me at all.
So what do you think happened next?
Of course all problems needed solutions. I hired a tricycle to bring me to the dental clinic. Well, as close to the dental clinic.. (One way street) Oh poor me.. It's really a blessing I was not having painful contractions yet or else, anyone who goes near me.. nasungitan ko na. What's worse was I needed to walk another 500 meters from where the driver dropped me going to the clinic.
But while I was still inside the tricycle, I received text from EJ asking if I'm done with the check up and if he needed to pick me up already. So I informed him about the whole thing by texting back.
When I reached the clinic he asked what exactly happened back at my OB's clinic. So I told him everything. But I was the one who asked him to drop the kids first at home and get our ready-to-go bags first before going to the hospital. Matigas talaga ulo ko bakit ba?!
At home, I informed everyone that I'll be giving birth already. I told my Dad: "Dy, iire lang ako ha." Ate was also at home that day so I was not worried leaving our dad.
Around 1pm: We went straight to the admitting section to show my admitting orders by my OB, I was fetched by an ER nursing attendant to drop by the ER first to fill up some info sheets, nakipag chikahan at tawanan muna sa mga ER friends (keri lang, wala pa rin akong contractions) and then went straight to the labor room.
At the OR/DR/LR, I was welcomed again by my friends. Joyce, one of my closest kaututang-dila was on duty that day thank God! I would really need a support from a friend while having labor pains. She's a Nurse at the Nursery. Weeks before pa lang I asked her na to accompany me during my labor and samahan nya akong sumigaw ng bonggang bongga habang umiire and of course maging photographer na din. Salamat talaga at duty sya.
Another blog will be posted for the scene at the Labor Room.
